Panama should see a typical rainy-season pattern on Monday, October 5, with scattered showers during the morning and more widespread thunderstorms developing later in the day.
The Instituto de Meteorología e Hidrología de Panamá said the monsoon trough and low-pressure systems over the Pacific and Caribbean are maintaining conditionally unstable weather. Tropical Wave No. 50 is leaving Panama’s area, but sufficient moisture remains for rain and thunderstorms.
On the Caribbean slope, isolated morning rain is possible in Bocas del Toro, the Ngäbe-Buglé region and northern Veraguas. Cloudier conditions are forecast during the afternoon and evening, with intermittent rain and isolated thunderstorms from Bocas del Toro through northern Veraguas and Colón to Guna Yala. Local wind gusts may accompany stronger showers.
On the Pacific side, early showers are possible along coastal and mountainous areas of Chiriquí, eastern Panamá province and Darién. Afternoon and evening thunderstorms may affect much of the Panama City region, Panamá Oeste, Panamá Este, the Gulf of Panama, Darién, southern Azuero, southern Veraguas and Chiriquí.
Temperatures should reach between 30°C and 34°C in warmer areas, while minimum temperatures will range from 13°C in the highlands to around 22°C elsewhere.
Marine conditions are forecast to remain favorable on both coasts, with waves near 0.61 metres. UV radiation is expected to range from high to extreme, making sun protection advisable during brighter periods. Residents should also seek shelter when thunder is heard and remain alert for brief gusty winds.
The forecast was issued at 12:23 a.m. by IMHPA forecaster Blas H. Córdoba. It is an ordinary daily forecast, not a weather warning.
