Much of Panama’s Pacific mainland will start Sunday with relatively settled conditions before afternoon thunderstorms develop, according to the Instituto de Meteorología e Hidrología de Panamá (IMHPA). The Caribbean coast faces rain earlier in the day.

The November 1 forecast, issued at 12:22 a.m. by forecaster Abdiel Vásquez, anticipates morning showers and isolated lightning over the Gulf of Panama.

Afternoon downpours are expected near the Costa Rican border, southern Veraguas, southern Azuero, Panamá, Darién and the Emberá territories. Strong nighttime storms over the gulfs of Panama and Chiriquí could approach coastal areas.

On the Caribbean side, morning storms offshore may move into Bocas del Toro, Colón and Guna Yala. Mountain areas could receive occasional afternoon rain.

Overnight temperatures range from 14–18°C in the mountains to 20–24°C at lower elevations. Western and central areas could reach 25–32°C. Forecast waves remain relatively modest on both coasts.

A separate significant-rainfall watch remains valid through November 3. SINAPROC warns that heavier rainfall during November 1–3 could cause flooding, sudden river rises and landslides in several central and eastern regions.

Residents and holiday travellers should avoid flooded crossings, riverbanks and unstable slopes, and follow official updates as conditions change.
