Panama will see typical rainy-season conditions on Tuesday, with afternoon and evening thunderstorms expected across parts of both the Caribbean and Pacific slopes.

The Instituto de Meteorología e Hidrología de Panamá said the atmosphere remains conditionally unstable because of the monsoon trough south of Central America and low-pressure systems over the Pacific and Caribbean. The forecast was issued at 12:56 a.m. by forecaster Blas H. Córdoba.

On the Caribbean side, partly cloudy conditions and isolated morning rain are expected around Bocas del Toro, the Ngäbe-Buglé region and Colón’s Costa Abajo. Intermittent rain, isolated downpours, thunderstorms and possible wind gusts may develop later across Bocas del Toro, Colón, Guna Yala, northern Veraguas and Ngäbe-Buglé.

Along the Pacific slope, isolated morning showers are possible near the coasts and highlands of Chiriquí and southern Veraguas. During the afternoon and evening, showers and thunderstorms may affect the Panama metropolitan region, Panamá Oeste, Panamá Este, the Gulf of Panama, Darién, southern Azuero, Veraguas and Chiriquí.

Maximum temperatures will range from 30°C to 33°C, while minimum temperatures could fall to between 14°C and 21°C in higher and cooler areas.

Marine conditions are forecast to remain generally favourable on both coasts. UV radiation, however, is expected to reach high to extreme levels during the afternoon. IMHPA did not classify the daily forecast as a separate weather warning or watch.
