Hot conditions will alternate with isolated showers across Panama on Monday, with thunderstorms possible in parts of the Pacific interior during the afternoon.

The Instituto de Meteorología e Hidrología de Panamá issued its first forecast update for September 28 at 12:12 a.m. The report was prepared by forecaster Rafael Morán.

No significant morning rain is expected along the Caribbean slope. During the afternoon, occasional rain could develop over northern Ngäbe-Buglé and the Central Mountain Range, while other areas should remain partly cloudy or mostly clear. No important rainfall is forecast for the evening.

On the Pacific side, occasional morning rain over the Gulf of Panama could move into central and eastern Panamá province and Darién.

Afternoon heat will give way to isolated downpours and possible thunderstorms in Veraguas, Ngäbe-Buglé and the mountainous areas of Azuero and Coclé. Brief, isolated showers are possible elsewhere along the Pacific slope. Conditions should become quieter during the evening.

Maximum temperatures are forecast at 30-33°C on the Pacific slope, 29-31°C along the Caribbean and 20-25°C in the Central Mountain Range. Winds will generally remain light at 5-15 km/h.

Waves are expected to reach 0.60-0.80 metres in the Caribbean and 0.60-1 metre in the Pacific. UV levels will range from 6 to above 8, representing high to very high exposure. The forecast does not announce a new nationwide weather warning.
