Panama’s gasoline and diesel prices will rise on Friday, September 18, under a new price schedule announced by the National Energy Secretariat.
The published rates put 95-octane gasoline at $1.38 per liter and 91-octane gasoline at $1.29 per liter, increases of about 10 cents each. Low-sulfur diesel will reach $1.53 per liter, up 13 cents.
The rates take effect at 6:00 a.m. on Friday and remain in force until 5:59 a.m. on October 2. Prices can vary slightly by location and rounding.
The Energy Secretariat attributes the increase mainly to higher international crude oil and fuel-product prices amid tensions in the Middle East. The diesel rise is particularly relevant to freight and other transport operators, although any effect on the prices of goods will depend on how long higher fuel costs persist.
