# Panama Canal Projects Record $3.6 Billion Treasury Contribution

The Panama Canal Authority’s proposed fiscal-year 2027 budget forecasts $5.555 billion in revenue and a direct Treasury contribution of $3.608 billion - $414 million more than budgeted for 2026\. Including taxes and social-security payments, total transfers to the state would reach $3.937 billion.

The forecast assumes 10,750 high-draft vessel transits and 457.3 million CP/SUAB tonnes between October 2026 and September 2027\. It also assumes difficult water conditions and the possibility of a strong El Niño, while keeping the Canal’s toll structure unchanged. The proposal, approved by the Cabinet on September 1, still requires National Assembly approval.
